Gaming: who plays what else

Store rankings show downloads; publishers need players. Omnimetra measures the audience of titles, stores and esports media per country on one panel: cross-play between titles, the exclusive audience of a portfolio, launch cohorts and the overlap with esports betting.

The industry's question

Which titles share players with ours, and where do new players come from?

What we measure

  • Share of audience per title, store and esports property by country
  • Cross-play: overlap of any set of titles; exclusive audience of a publisher's portfolio
  • Launch and season cohorts with retention
  • Switching between titles and genres over 36 months
  • Overlap with esports betting, streaming and social audiences
  • Placements by lift for user acquisition

KPIs

  • share of audience
  • cross-play rate
  • portfolio exclusive audience
  • launch cohort retention
  • switching flows
  • sponsor overlap

Three scenarios

Portfolio overlap

The exclusive audience each title adds to the publisher's portfolio, and the titles that cannibalise each other.

Launch cohort

Who came in the first month of a new title, which competitors they also play, how many stayed at month three.

Esports media

The overlap of an esports property's audience with betting and streaming brands, for sponsorship pricing.

Example: two titles of one publisher

The new title's players are 54 % existing players of the flagship; the exclusive audience is concentrated in one country and two competitor titles. The UA plan follows the exclusive audience.
